Thanks for this Samiyah!
ReplyDeleteWhich are the ones that overlap on the three lists?
Also, tell us which ones you won't be willing to read again. We should take those off.
I guess I posted this on an extinct thread!
ReplyDeleteNOT Pride and Prejudice - no way no how uh huh. I vote for no girly stuff. 1 a month or 5 a year please.... We watched The Reader. Quite strong, I thought. Bunch of nudie stuff in that so you kids should just read the book.... In fact, let's read that one.
The Reader is not yet a classic, IMHO! Bernard Schlink has yet to earn his spurs in the pantheon of the greats, I say, nudie stuff notwithstanding!
ReplyDeleteThe books that overlap on atleast two lists are:
ReplyDeleteInvisible Man
Things Fall Apart
1984 or Animal Farm
The Clockwork Orange
The Grapes of Wrath
This is a good list to begin with, and there are not real girly book so should appeal to all.
ReplyDeleteI'm also really keen on reading Things Fall Apart after Gone with the wind... Asad's band was named afer this book, as a devoted wife I should read up!.. of course need to finish the first book.
